Why? Going over to google’s blogspot reduces another login; the whole purpose of my own domain name was to learn to design a website yet I’ll I’ve done is use a ready made blog; it’s FREE; wordpress used to offer more flexibility but blogger has caught up; yep, mainly because of the free part.
As of now I cannot import my archives into the new blog, but this post gives me hope that I’ll be able to someday soon. In the meantime, they’ll sit here for the next few months and on my laptop until blogger allows it.

In the past I had gmail, but I got rid of it a couple years ago because I was concerned about privacy issues. It’s not that I’ve grown to trust gmail more with my information, I’ve just grown to distrust all email providers equally. Oh and I like how gmail saves a string of back-and-forth messages as one message so the inbox looks less overwhelming. Also it’s free. And I already sign into google to check blogs so this saves me a second sign-in. I will have my work email redirected to gmail too, which will save me a third sign-in each day. (I couldn’t do that with my @mac.com address because it would not let me send email with my work address as a reply.)
Does everybody get this excited about email?

I really wanted to check out Boricua Fest (a Puerto Rican festival in Festival Park) today, but I had already committed to two barbecues. No fear! DNA (Downtown Neighborhood Association) was there in full effect and took great photos. Click here to view.

Sure, it’s a sports blog, but still. The Courier didn’t have an Elgin blog, but now they do–All Around E-Town.
Other cool stuff the Courier has done lately:
-Written about the Pitchfork Music Festival
-Came up with a funny headline about a dentist

Here are some Elgin-relevant blogs I have found lately:
-Cinderella Has a Mortgage. A single woman aims to buys her first house by age 25 and succeeds. Guess what? That house is in Elgin.
-What You Consume. This is a new blog that appears to focus mostly on health-related issues. It only has five posts so far and three of them mention Elgin.
-Women’s Voices Illinois. This is a blog of female Republican members of the House of Representatives that focuses on women’s issues. It is not for females only, or Republicans only for that matter. Sure, it’s not completely Elgin-centered, but if you live in Elgin you live in Illinois, so it might interest you!

If you’re feeling under the weather on a Friday night, what better to do than peruse craigslist?
*Somebody help this guy. Seriously, his request is adorable. He wants to give his girlfriend a handwritten poem, but has bad handwriting. He will pay $20 for you to write the poem out nicely. See? Adorable!
*You can attend and camp at the Lazy River Music Festival for free in exchange for 3-4 hours of volunteer work per day. Not my number one style of music, but anything outdoors during the summer is awesome. If I didn’t have a wedding that weekend I’d probably do it.
*I always thought driving an ice cream truck would be fun. Too bad they’re not looking for part-timers.
*This women is my hero. She’s offering to temporarily take care of the dogs of people whose houses are getting foreclosed. I hope she takes this one. Or maybe it’s time I ask my landlord if I can have a second dog here.
*This guy needs a cop to fingerprint him. A cop who can supply the ink, at that.
*Women’s Midlife Friends & Bunco Group. Enough said.
…LAST BUT NOT LEAST:
*Did you know Elgin is home to “America’s Best Psychic Fair?” Starts tomorrow.
