Saturday my man and I went to the Elgin Fresh Market on the west side. It was a bit different than I remembered. Instead of a cart up front, they have a full counter.

Here’s the elote. It’s corn on the cob on a stick, basically. They slather it with mayonnaise, then pour cheese over it, then sprinkle red pepper onto it. Yum.

I’m not a big mayonnaise fan, so when I make it at home I use melted butter instead. I’ve seen a guy selling elote from a cart use a mayo/butter combo. I tried sour cream once and it worked too. Basically you just need something to get the cheese to stick.

Roach (my Brussels Griffon) gnawed on the leftovers. I think elote leftovers are his favorite.
What sort of cheese is best on elote? I don’t know. Any Mexican crumble-able cheese works, I’m sure, but I’ve seen some cart guys who use the cheap Parmesan in a jar and that’s pretty tasty as well. Maybe a parm-chihuahua combo would be best?

So I have a youtube channel. No big deal.
So far it’s just dog videos, but soon, soon I will introduce my face to the world.Wait…I’ve already plastered my face on flickr. Um, soon I will introduce my moving and talking face to the world. Yeah.
I had been feeling like I wanted a new camera and a new digital video camera, but I’ve decided to run this one to the ground. Yes, you will get to see my crappy quality photos and videos until the Nikon COOLPIX L3 is broken.

I took these photos in October. They were taken at a house on Elgin’s west side.

Come on Jessica. You really put me in here?

That’s it, I’m getting out. Holy s!

I’m mean I’m cool. No big thing. (Note the pinky!)

Show that mailbox who’s boss. WHAT YOU THOUGHT MAILBOX?

Here are photos of my new apartment in Elgin.

The living room prior to the futon purchase…

…and since the futon purchase. Note the awesome Derek Erdman painting.

The kitchen. Those yellow flowers were a gift on Date Night.

The office. I haven’t actually done work in there yet, due to the boxes and the fact that I cannot afford to buy a chair for the desk. The desk is a drafting table from my childhood, back when I wanted to be an artist/art teacher/architect.

Sometimes I do my work on the kitchen floor. Hopefully I can get the office into a usable state over this weekend.

This is where I live now? Alright, I’ll make myself right at home.

You putting that silver thing in my face again girl? Can’t a dog get a moment of peace?

The bedroom. The clothes are put away now. I still can’t believe Cockroach climbed that mountain so he could lie down in a laundry basket. My dog is a weirdo. That’s probably why we work so well together.
